SolarWave is a solar powered catamaran which functions as a research vessel in Greek waters. Since the summer of 2016, passengers and researchers can observe their surroundings from inside HelioTents on board SolarWave.
Dolphin watching, in particular, requires a longer stay on the foredeck. The HelioTent is an environmentally friendly asset for us because it largely eliminates the need for sunscreen. The ingredients in sun cream can pollute marine flora and fauna, damage the boat’s surface and leave stains.
HelioTent helps us to avoid polluting the ocean in the bays we use.
On days where there is no wind, we assemble one or two HelioTents on the foredeck in just a few minutes. The innovative HelioTent concept with its wavelength-specific filter is impressive. It enables a comfortable stay in the sun without skin damage, which is also down to the cooling effect of the infrared filter. The HelioTent can be used in wind speeds of up to 3-4, if the wind becomes any stronger it’s dismantled.
We would wholeheartedly recommend using a HelioTent.
